چکیده

Methods. To further evaluate the relationship between ROG and melanoma proliferation, we assessed the correlation of ROG with Ki67, a commonly used marker of cell cycle progression, and phosphorylated-histone-H3 (PH3), a sensitive marker of mitosis. The methods of assessing Ki67 and PH3 have been described elsewhere. In brief, recuts of a representative section within the primary melanoma were used for immunohistochemical staining with both markers, and staining was scored by 2 independent assessors without knowledge of ROG. The Ki67 staining (percentage of staining melanoma cells in the dermis) and the PH3 staining (numbers of staining melanoma cells per millimeters squared in the dermis) were assessed, beginning in the most immunoreactive area. The final score of Ki67 and the final score of PH3 were defined as the mean of scores from the 2 assessors. Results. The intraclass correlation coefficients for interassessor agreement were 0.91 for PH3 and 0.89 for Ki67, indicating an excellent level of agreement. We found that similar to the correlation with mitotic rate, ROG was significantly associated with the Ki67 score (Spearman rank correlation coefficient, 0.44; P .001) (Figure 1) and with the PH3 score (Spearman rank correlation coefficient, 0.46; P .001) (Figure 2).

A Left-Sided Prevalence of Lentigo Maligna: A UK Based Observational Study and Review of the Evidence

Skin cancer has been shown to present asymmetrically, prevalent on the left side of the body, more so in subtypes of cutaneous melanoma such as lentigo maligna. Biases have been linked to cumulative UV light exposure and automobile driving patterns. Though left-right ratios have previously correlated with the side men or women tend to position themselves or countries drive on, more recent trend...

Assessment of brain laterality among Iranian addicts and smokers

Previous research supported that the prevalence of addiction is related to brain laterality. Brain laterality is often determined by left/right handedness and this phenomenon is considered as an important factor in addiction prevalence. The present study attempts to examine the relationships between left/right handedness with addiction and smoking on Iranian population. In this study, 2000 male...

P53 antigen expression in cutaneous Melanoma and its relation to tumor thickness

Background: P53 tumor suppressor gene mutation is one of the most common genetic alterations in human malignancies. The mutated from of the gene is stable and can be detected with immunohistochemistry methods. There is much controversy about the expression rate of this gene in malignant melanoma. Objective: To determine the frequency of the P53 antigen expression by sex, age, type and thickness...

A rare case of primary malignant melanoma of cervix with metastasis to inguinal lymph node detected on 18F-FDG PET-CT scan

Primary malignant melanoma of uterine cervix is extremely rare malignancy with very few case published reports. This neoplasm is having poor prognosis, so early diagnosis, staging and treatment is of extreme importance. 18F-FDG PET-CT (18F-labeled fluoro-2-deoxyglucose positron emission computed tomography) scan is an established modality to determine exact extent of disea...
